Horror Junk Review: Hatchet

Shea and I are sick of reviewing movies ourselves, so at Horror Hound Weekend in Indianapolis, we let the fans themselves review Hatchet for us. We got input from many fans as well as horror movie celebrities involved in the production, like Kane Hodder and Tony Todd.

Next up for Horror Junk videos: A review of Side Sho and premiere (kind of) of the short film Urine Trouble. Keep your eyes peeled!

Glad that Shea scoped out a chick that knows how to rate nudity in horror.

That chick was in line to get John Landis' autograph.  She was cool though.

And definitely pick up the Hatchet DVD.  It rocks pretty hard.  One of my fav's of the year for sure.

Re: Horror Junk Review: Hatchet

I'm sorry you can't say this is an old school slasher flick...  They need to go watch a Friday the 13th film to know what an old school slasher film is.  I'm really sorry!  I really wanted to like this flick.  I really did but, it just wasn't there.  It was poorly casted and the jokes were bad.  It took an hour before anything really happened in the film.  The death scenes were cool but, it doesn't make it up for the rest of the mess.  Please, will someone tell me what the big deal is for this film.  It just sucked....  The casting was just so bad... I'm lost for words... I would say your money and buy something else at Nazi Mart.  Like I said, I really wanted to like this film but, the trailer for the film was complete lie.

Re: Horror Junk Review: Hatchet

I finally got my way through the movie, and I'm really disappointed.

The death scene special effects were great, but the prosthetic make-up for Victor Crowley looked a bit too much like Castle Freak on steroids.

The direction was a bit amateur, and the editing was a cut-by-cut example of how to assemble your movie with insert-shot-after-insert-shot.

The acting was competent.  It's unfortunate that the heavy hitters - Englund and Todd - were shown so early in the movie as the impact of having these icons in the film was blown right off the bat.

It didn't live up to the hype.  These was not an "old school" American horror film.  The original teaser trailer was so awesome, but the movie itself just didn't deliver, and now I'm stuck with a DVD I need to sell on eBay.

sad

Yeah, this movie was horrible.  There was no redeeming qualities at all.  Well, maybe the boobs, but that was it.
